RORY AND j3 CHALLENGE

Rory's lovely wife Roxy approached Rory with an offer (not because he has a problem) that would land him $200 toward a new snowboard if he could stop drinking for a month (not because he has a problem). Rory, being an avid snowboarder and knowing the benefits of kicking beer for a month (not because he has a problem), he agrees (not because he has a problem). For support, he informs his immediate group of friends of his endeavor and I, being an absolute fool (not because I have a problem), agree to take the march with him, but requesting another specific requirement and that is no sodas. Rory agrees (not because he has a problem). And since I really don't have an extravagant prize waiting for me at the end, I asked that we have a side contest in which there's a winner for percentage of body weight lost. I'll probably lose that too since Rory's working out and I hate gyms. I am walking almost every morning, but I'm really not sure how much that helps my waistline. I guess we'll see.

Rory's working on his six-pack abs and I'm hoping to keep my arms from wagging when I applaud. Needless to say, he's a few levels above me.

The contest began yesterday (with a sixer of Killians in the fridge--argh!) and I'll be charting the progress here at The Root Down, as always.

Speaking of Rory and the boys, the Somewhat Annual j3 Ski Spectacular is approaching quickly. We'll be needing to nail down the details soon. Wolf Creek's already got a nice base. Can't wait. My bones are aching to get back on a mountain.

And speaking of Wolf, Wolfmother in Dallas the week after Thanksgiving. The lovely Sheryl's working on a meet and greet. Oh, that'd be awesome. Duke and Sarah, you still in? I know it'll be tough with school Sarah, but just be in touch. Would love to see you all there.

Alright, I gotta go find my scale so I can get an accurate weight on my fat ass (not because I have a problem).

I vote for the weekend of the 9th (in March). SXSW is going on march 14-18, so Dale and I won't be able to do it then. I hope you won't either, since you should be in Austin during that time. As far as wolfmother goes, I am really trying to go to this thing. I need to think of a good excuse to get out of class and clinic. I will get back to you a.s.a.p on that one.
Good luck on the challenge.
